That's why we need diverse people from all abilities, gender identities, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, life experiences and backgrounds to join us.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Teamworking for the planet</strong></p>\n<p>Everything we do here spins around <a href="https://company.ovo.com/planzero/">Plan Zero.</a> So, naturally, the team you’ll be joining plays a gigantic role in making that happen.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>This role in a nutshell:</strong></p>\n<p>Working within OVO’s Energy Trading team, this role reports to the Energy Trading Senior Manager and has responsibility for ensuring OVO’s short term wholesale energy market trading requirements are transacted in an efficient manner that seeks to minimise costs and maximise value.  This will require the close out of open positions either inherited through long term trading positions or created due to short term portfolio demand forecast changes.  OVO’s Trading function is a dynamic and fast paced environment.  Within the role you will be required to carry out short term gas and power trades in line with agreed strategies whilst ensuring OVO optimises value from participation of the portfolio electricity demand flexibility in short term grid services markets.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Your key outcomes will be:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Balancing OVO’s retail power exposures within day and day ahead via energy exchanges, power auctions.</li>\n<li>Balancing within day and day ahead gas positions.</li>\n<li>Own and explain all P&L created from these trading activities.</li>\n<li>A key interface for Trading in respect of Commercial teams; the role holder will work with various stakeholders to ensure forecasts of flex capacity and flex value captured are accurate.</li>\n<li>A key interface for Trading in respect of Tech teams; many of our flex assets operate in automated markets. The role holder will work with Tech to ensure the automated entry to these markets is working as expected.</li>\n<li>Development and implement new flex market entry strategies as opportunities present themselves. </li>\n<li>Feeding the longer term traders with analysis of how the short term energy markets are behaving and how this could affect longer term trade horizons.</li>\n<li>Ad hoc projects as required</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>You’ll be successful in this role</strong><strong> at OVO if you…</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>A desire to develop deep energy market understanding: Building towards a strong working knowledge of UK energy markets, specifically within-day and day-ahead power and gas markets.</li>\n<li>Familiarity with the market rules and operating of energy exchanges (e.g., EPEX, Nord Pool, ICE) and power auctions.</li>\n<li>Strong Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze complex, fast-moving market data to inform both immediate trading decisions and longer-term strategy.</li>\n<li>Experience in developing and operating critical processes</li>\n<li>Decisiveness under pressure: Short-term (within-day) trading requires making rapid decisions with potentially incomplete information. You must be comfortable managing risk.</li>\n<li>The ability to take the initiative in addressing complex challenges. </li>\n<li>Demonstrable high attention to detail with the ability to spot potential issues in high value processes. </li>\n<li>Take pride in the value add of diligently delivering key processes as much as from Trading performance</li>\n<li>Flexibility; willing to contribute across a range of projects.</li>\n<li>Degree in analytical, numerical or science based subject or relevant work experience in a relevant role</li>\n<li>Are comfortable with an unpredictable and changing workload - you'll need to react to changes in the market and business requirements</li>\n<li>Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Let’s talk about what’s in it for you</strong></p>\n<p>We’ll pay you between £35,000 - £48,000, depending on your specific skills and experience.
